After over three decades of service Chief James Hayes will be retiring. Chief Hayes officially announced his retirement at the Gilford’s Board of Fire Engineers meeting on January 20, 2010. Hayes started his career as a temporary full time employee for the city of Concord, before being hired as a career firefighter. After a brief period with Concord Fire Hayes moved to Gilford Fire Rescue. Moving up the ranks in Gilford, Hayes became Lieutenant, Deputy, and in 2005 he became Chief of Department. After five years as Chief and 32 years of service we would like to wish Chief Jim Hayes a happy retirement.
