1st Alarm Building Fire with Explosions

Posted On: Jul 18, 2010 (19:40:54)
At 21:48 hours on July 7th Gilford Fire-Rescue was toned to a shed fire with exposures. Units responded to find multpile sheds, including a 14' x 12' shed fully involved with multiple exposures to residential mobile homes. In addition Captain Balcom, Firefighter Aselton, and Firefighter/Paramedic Blanchette encountered explosions from the shed.

They began an aggressive exterior attack including Big Blue Blitz gun and requested a 1st alarm.

Despite the heat no firefighters were injured, and a big thanks to our Rehab Unit for responding!
1st Alarm Building Fire

Updated On: Jul 18, 2010 (19:57:00)
At 20:31 hours Gilford Fire-Rescue was toned to a building fire during an already busy evening. Units responded and saw smoke from several streets away.

Engine 4 and Lt Mercuri arrived on scene and confirmed a building fire venting through a window at the Bravo / Charlie corner. Crews requested a 1st alarm and began stretching a line to the front door.

At this time Chief Beland arrived and assumed command. Additional Gilford, Laconia, and Belmont units arrived. The fire was knocked down quickley, no firefighters were injured, and all occupants made it out safely.
New Training Facility

Updated On: Jul 18, 2010 (19:25:00)
Gilford Fire-Rescue is proud to announce the construction of a new fire training facility in GIlford. Through the hard work of all members, career, call, and administration, our new training facility is taking shape. Once a dream of a few members, Gilford now has begun construction.

In June, 9 Conex style containers were delivered to our site. Once the floor plan is complete, the units will be used for live fire training, hose advances, laddering, search techniques, and many other evolutions.

This project has received support form not only our town, but also communities across the Lakes Region and New Hampshire. For more information please contact Chief John Beland at jbeland@gilfordnh.org or 603-527-4758.
